reviving the blog

... and hopefully also going on trainings.

It's been a minute. The last time I went on a training was in 2019. Hard to believe that's five years ago. I went to Malta, like almost every time I did Erasmus +. A lot has happened in the last five years. On a global scale: the pandemic, the war in my home country, among other big things. On a smaller scale: I left school and started to work in adult education. Again.

I could dive into the reasons why I made this incredibly big change. I could talk about the emotional goodbyes, the tough time starting at the new place, my thoughts on the brutal attack on my home country, how I managed to stay sane during the pandemic. But, instead, I think I want to focus on this new experience I'm about to make.

To be very honest, it was tempting to look for trainings in Malta. I know the place, the school, the teachers. I appreciate the great organization, the quality of the lessons, and I simply love the islands and its people. However, I know Malta and that's what I always do - I go for things I know. Things that feel comfortable. So this time I thought, why not switch it up a little and kill two birds with one stone. First, leave my comfort zone, and second, go to a new place entirely.

The only thing my sending institution required was the class being connected to digitalization and/or inclusion. Which limited my choices a little bit, but since I enjoy working with digital tools, I chose an ICT class. In. Wait for it: Nice, France.

I don't remember the last time I was in France. It must have been during studies. So, a long, long time ago. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know a completely new city in a fairly, to me, unknown country.

I'm not sure what expectations I have. I hope the school's good, the people nice, the topics taught new to me. With trainings like this one, the best outcome is always that you take a lot away from it. New perspectives, new approaches, new tools to use in the classroom. We'll see how that goes.

every journey starts with this
