A great experience once again

Once again the time has come to pack my suitcase and say goodbye to people who have become friends and to this wonderful island which I came to love.

It's funny how people sometimes react when I say that I've been coming to Malta since 2013. I guess it's understandable. After all I could travel basically anywhere within Europe. Maybe I'd give someone who did the same a strange look, too. Why would you repeat one thing over and over again? Why would you go to a place you already know pretty well? Why would you attend classes at a school you've studied at before?

Legitimate questions. But so far every single time has been different. Every time I learnt new things - work related but also about myself. I fell in love with Malta - this wondrous place where houses have names, stray cats are adored, strangers greet you on the street and you can tell the name of the driver by looking at their license plate - and its people and simply felt compelled to go there again and again. I guess it's a matter of perspective whether an experience is 'the same' as a previous one or not. Theoretically, it can't be. Never. Because you're never the same person. You change, you evolve, just as the world around you does. So you never see a place with the same eyes, never experience something in the same way as before. Your life teaches you stuff which in turn influences your perception of things. So it's never the same.

This time has been pretty special because I went with a good friend and colleague. I think it was her that made all the difference. I shared everything with her and thus experienced the training as well as the rest of the trip as not only beneficial for my work but most importantly for our friendship.

I didn't think I'd meet someone I can relate to like I do to her at the age of 30. Somehow we have this perception that the friends you make at an early age are the ones that are more likely to stay with us in the long run. With her, though, I learnt that you can be blessed enough to make a friend that makes everything better in life even at the age of 30.

Anyway, this trip has been great. I saw many people again, enjoyed two intensive weeks of learning new vocabulary and practicing structures in English, and spent countless hours laughing, smiling and talking with a dear friend. I'm going home with a lot of happy memories and motivation.

You can never learn enough. Never experience enough. So put yourself out there. Take chances. Share your life with the ones closest to you. Don't do things passively just because you might have done them already. Be open and curious. Towards people and towards what life has in store for you.
